After making a grand debut in Mumbai, Tesla is accelerating its expansion in India with the launch of its second showroom. The electric vehicle (EV) pioneer will officially open its new Experience Centre in Delhi on August 11, 2025, marking another milestone in its strategic entry into one of the world’s largest automobile markets.
From Mumbai to Delhi: Tesla’s Growing Footprint
Tesla’s Indian journey began in July 2025 with the unveiling of its first showroom at Maker Maxity Mall in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai. Accompanying the showroom, the company also introduced its first charging station at One BKC, equipped with four V4 Superchargers and four AC destination chargers. The opening was followed by significant buzz and strong interest from EV enthusiasts across the country.
Now, Tesla is taking its next step with the launch of a second Experience Centre at Worldmark 3, Aerocity, New Delhi. Spanning 8,200 square feet, the new showroom not only offers a premium customer experience but also includes four Superchargers, with plans to further extend the charging infrastructure across the National Capital Region (NCR). Proposed future charging locations include Noida, Saket, and Horizon Centre in Gurugram.
The Star of the Showroom: Tesla Model Y
Tesla’s India operations currently revolve around one flagship product – the Tesla Model Y, a midsize electric SUV that has gained international acclaim for its balance of range, performance, and tech-forward features.
In India, the Model Y is available in two variants:
-
Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) – ₹59.89 lakh (ex-showroom)
-
Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive – ₹67.89 lakh (ex-showroom)
The RWD variant comes with a 60 kWh or 75 kWh battery, producing around 290 bhp of peak power. It offers a WLTP-certified range of up to 500 km, while the long-range version extends this to a remarkable 622 km. Acceleration is brisk too, with the long-range variant going from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.6 seconds.
Tesla also offers its Full Self-Driving (FSD) package in India for an additional ₹6 lakh, although its full functionality remains limited due to regulatory constraints.
Charging Made Easy: Superchargers in India
One of Tesla’s key differentiators globally is its proprietary Supercharger network, and the company is replicating this ecosystem in India. Its Mumbai charging facility at One BKC offers fast-charging capabilities, providing up to 267 km of range in just 15 minutes — enough for several short city commutes or even intercity travel.
By the end of Q3 2025, Tesla plans to expand its charging infrastructure with new stations in Lower Parel, Thane, and Navi Mumbai. Beyond Maharashtra and NCR, Tesla is eyeing charging locations in Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, and Jaipur.
Interior, Tech, and Customisation
The Model Y in India comes with a five-seat configuration, featuring premium options like:
-
Power-reclining, heated, and ventilated front seats
-
Heated and power-folding second-row seats
-
Hands-free power trunk
-
Eight exterior cameras for advanced driver assistance
-
Second-generation connectivity hardware
Interior themes include black and white options, while exterior colours include Stealth Grey (no extra cost), and other premium finishes such as Pearl White Multi-Coat, Diamond Black, Ultra Red, Quicksilver, and Glacier Blue for an additional fee.
Deliveries and Registrations
Currently, Tesla has opened bookings and registrations in Mumbai, Delhi, and Gurugram, with deliveries expected to begin in Q3 2025. However, pricing may vary slightly depending on local taxes and state-level policies.
A Strategic Move in a Growing Market
Tesla’s entry into India — the world’s third-largest auto market — is being closely watched. While the brand enjoys a strong global reputation, challenges like high pricing, lack of local manufacturing, and import duties may pose hurdles to widespread adoption. Nevertheless, Tesla’s phased rollout, combined with its premium appeal, positions it well in India’s rapidly evolving EV landscape.
What’s Next for Tesla in India?
With two major cities now hosting Tesla Experience Centres and more charging stations in the pipeline, the company is clearly committed to long-term growth in India. While the current focus remains on the Model Y, future models and potential local assembly could open the doors to broader market participation.
Conclusion
Tesla’s second showroom in Delhi marks a pivotal moment in India’s EV journey. With high-performance vehicles, a growing charging network, and premium service centres, Tesla is setting the stage for a new era of clean, connected, and cutting-edge mobility.
Stay tuned — the EV revolution is just getting started.
